良戶村的名稱由來已久，至少在明代萬歷年間就已經(jīng)有了這個(gè)名字，到現(xiàn)在也已經(jīng)有400多年的歷史了。據(jù)說，唐代郭、田兩姓家族在此建村，叫做“兩戶”，隨后演變成為“良戶”，從宋代之后，陸續(xù)又有王、李、秦、趙、張、高、邵、宋、寧、蘇、竇等外姓人家遷居此處，人口增加，村落擴(kuò)大?，F(xiàn)在村里共有總戶數(shù)505戶，共1500多口人，占地面積3.7平方公里。于2006年被山西省政府授予山西省歷史文化名村，于2007年被國家建設(shè)部和國家文物局公布為第三批中國歷史文化名村。

良戶村的選址十分講究，可謂是“山環(huán)水繞，風(fēng)水獨(dú)佳”。良戶村地理位置得天獨(dú)厚，北枕鳳翅山，南對(duì)雙龍嶺和虎頭山，西倚牛角山（高平關(guān)老馬嶺），明公河繞村而過，可以說是三面環(huán)山，四河匯水，藏風(fēng)聚氣，形勝寶地。

良戶村作為中國歷史文化名村保留著數(shù)量可觀的明清民居、寺廟等古建筑，而且至今還較為完整地傳承了街道士、出旗山、擎神會(huì)、百子橋、送鬼王、曬龍王、散路燈、迎神賽社等許多獨(dú)特的民俗和民間文化。良戶村所保留著大量物質(zhì)的和文化的歷史遺存，向我們展現(xiàn)了一幅中國農(nóng)村傳統(tǒng)的農(nóng)耕文化的優(yōu)美畫卷。
